How to Use & Safety Guidelines

How To Use

SETUP & USE INSTRUCTIONS

 (Western & English Sets)

STEP 1 — Noseband Reference Connection

When unpacking your Pro Balancer®, you will find a noseband with a single trigger snap attached to the string-and-ring system. Leave this trigger snap attached during initial setup to provide a consistent reference point.

STEP 2 — Body / Chest Strap Setup

(Western & English Sets)

The Pro Balancer® includes a body or chest strap designed to stabilize the system during use. The method of attachment depends on whether you are using a Western or English saddle configuration.

Western Set

The Western Set includes a body strap with a bolt snap at each end.

Attach one bolt snap to the front cinch ring underneath the horse’s belly. Route the strap up between the front legs and attach the opposite bolt snap to the center ring of the breast collar.

English Set

The English Set includes a chest strap designed for English girth configurations.

The rear portion of the strap does not include a bolt snap. Instead, the English girth slides directly through the designated cinch channel on the chest strap, which is precisely positioned for proper fit and stability.

The forward end of the strap includes a bolt snap, which attaches to the center ring of the breastplate or approved Pro Balancer® yoke.

STEP 3 — Connecting the Side Strings

Attach each trigger snap to the swivel eye of the bolt snap on the same side.  (The swivel eye is the solid loop of the bolt snap that the strap passes through.)

✔ Left to left
✔ Right to right
❌ Do not cross sides
❌ Do not attach directly to the breast collar, or breastplate

STEP 4 — Running the Reins

Run your reins through the O-rings at the end of each string, keeping all components straight, uncrossed, and aligned on the correct side of the horse. Split reins or other rein styles may be used as long as alignment remains correct.

REIN STOPS REQUIRED
Rein stops must be installed on every pair of reins used with the Pro Balancer®.

  • The rein stops provided are designed to:
    • Velcro securely over any reins in the Western Set, or
    • Slide onto English reins in the English Set.

Rein stops must be installed on each rein, positioned between the bit connection and the sliding O-ring that the reins are threaded through on the Pro Balancer® string system.

Proper placement of rein stops prevents the O-rings from sliding too far down the reins and reduces the risk of snagging or catching on tack or equipment.

Do not use without rein stops installed.

STEP 5 — Adjusting String Length

Adjust string length by pulling the string through the swage. Secure by tying a slip knot behind the swage.

For first rides, leave the strings slightly longer and shorten gradually as needed.
